Title:Peter Preaching - [Lectionary selection, Fifth Sunday of Easter, Year C]
Notes:The lectionary reading from Acts, Chapter 11, tells the story of Peter's teaching in Jerusalem. The painting of Peter preaching is part of the Linaiuoli Tabernacle, a large altarpiece that is Fra Angelico's earliest mature work. The section of Peter Preaching is one of three smaller panels below the main one. The scene shows St. Mark writing down the sermon on a tablet as Peter preaches, an illustration of the non-canonical ancient tradition that St Mark’s gospel is essentially St Peter’s eye-witness account.
