Title:Moses Striking the Rock and Bringing Forth the Water
Notes:"...Moses had done a terrible thing. Moses had not followed God's instructions. Instead of only speaking to the rock, Moses struck it and made it appear that his power, not the power of God, had caused the water to flow. And Moses struck the rock not once but twice, emphasizing that his striking of the rock was no accident...Moses should have said something like "Behold the power of God" and then told the rock to give water in the name of God. By saying "Shall we bring forth water for you?" and then striking the rock Moses made it appear that he was creating the water with his rod. He was pretending to be a magician." (Sandidge, 175)
