Title: | Adoration of the Child-Santa Maria Maggiore |
---|
Notes: | This is on the arch of the church. The figure seated above the Christ child is possibly Mary, and is featured again below to the left of Christ, while a more familiar portrayal of Mary appears on the right next to two of the Magi. It is possible the princess figure is portrayal of an Egyptian royal, while it is also possible it is two representations of Mary, indicating Christ as foretold in the Old Testament. |
