Title:Creation of Eve (Detail of God)
Notes:This particular sarcophagus is known as the Dogmatic Sarcophagus, or the "sarcophagus of the two Testaments."This image depicts the creation of Eve from the rib of Adam, lying prone below the smaller figure of Eve. The figure creating, and seated giving a benediction, is God, however this figure is bearded, in contrast with the figure bestowing the symbols of labor to Adam and Eve. It can be argued that the beardless figure is Christ, while the bearded figure is God.
