Title: | Book of Daniel and the Apocalypse |
---|
Notes: | Henry Dunant was the force behind the founding of the Red Cross and the Geneva Conventions. As a wealthy Swiss businessman, he worked tirelessly to lay the foundation of humane treatment of prisoners and non-combatants in times of war. His later years were spent in cloistered penury, and when he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace, he left the funds to the poor. In his latter years, he became intrigued by the Book of Daniel and its apocalyptic foretellings. |
