Title: | Christ Washing the Apostles' Feet |
---|
Notes: | Simon Bening was a Flemish miniaturist who concentrated mostly in Books of Hours. In Christ Washing the Apostles’ Feet, Jesus is preparing to perform a kind service to his disciples with a towel draped over his arm as a boy is placing a bowl of water next to him. Peter throws his hands up in protest, while the other disciples are equally baffled and uneasy at the prospect of Jesus washing their feet. Jesus’ face shows kindness and patience as he seeks to attend to his friends. In this simple act, we are reminded to serve others, following the example of Jesus. |
