Title:Presentation in the Temple
Notes:"Anna appears alongside Simeon. Whereas Simeon is described as a pious and just man, Anna is called a prophetess. The man alone never represents faith as Luke understands it. A woman always has to be set against him to express the other aspect of the acceptance of Jesus in faith...Anna has lived through all three stages of womanhood: virginity, marriage and widowhood...She sees what God is doing in Jesus. In Jesus the redemption for which pious Israelites long becomes a reality for all men and women. They are freed from their captivity, freed from their alienation. They become free, just as God had intended when he created them." (Grn, 32)
